I hope everyone is having a great day. Today is MLK day. While it may seem to us like we are in a horrible situation, days like this can be looked at to gain a different perspective. To appreciate what we have thanks to those who came before us.
Dr. King was murdered in Memphis, TN on April 4, 1968. He was in Memphis to support sanitation workers. Workers that were fighting for better wages, hours, and working conditions. The same thing every union has since workers began to push for concerted rights in the work place.
It has never been an easy fight. Law enforcement has come a long way from the days when WE were the strike breakers. Now, since Act 10, we are the last standard bearers of union employees in the State of Wisconsin. We need to keep pushing for what we deserve and maintain, hoping for the day our brothers and sisters around the state regain their work rights. Their contracts will most definitely be modeled off what we have, and will have.
So remember Dr. King and those who came before us. We would not be here without people of strong character like them.
