WLEA Local 3 News

Here are the most recent issues discussed at the Local 3 Labor/Managment Meeting:

-For REAL ID/PASS ID there will be a code implemented on Fri, Apr 23 for photo first and facial recognition.

-On Sat, Apr 24 there could be some overtime involved for some employees to come in and verify the production went through.

-Mon, Apr 26 there will be an in-service training for all employees on the new processes and we will not be open to the public for most of the day if not all.  The State will still have to be in full compliance before May 11, 2011 at this time.

-The Waukesha DMV facility construction is temporarily halted as of now with a goal of opening by late Sept, 2010.

-Temporary re-assignments for coverage can last up to 6 months.

-No employee is required to shovel snow.  However, if mgmt asks and the employee is willing to do so, then there is no problem.

-Discussion of the need and liability for class M cycle tests will be looked at by mgmt.

Team-

Just a quick note to let you know what the Executive Board of your Local 3 union has been up to.

With these hard economic times, everyone is noticing any and all cost changes coming out of our checks.  Please keep in mind that as a union, we are trying to keep any price adjustments to a minimum.   I know it’s tough out there, and it seems that we have many unhappy customers, but just keep in the back of your thoughts that you have a job, and that there is something to say about job security.

If faced with a cranky customer, instead of letting them get to you, just take a moment and walk away, giving you both some time to calm down, or, if possible, when in that situation, “kill them with kindness.” (it does work most of the time)

Furlough days, while none of us like this, we are still in talks with the state as to the upcoming dates-just to verify that they are needed this year and next.

Station hour changes-I know not everyone is happy with this, but let’s try it for a few months and then we can re-evaluate.  This is a conversation that we have at our labor/management meetings every other month.

Hope you all have a safe and happy new year!!!
